Campbell and NC State To Offer Dual Degree
(RALEIGH) -- Campbell University is partnering with North Carolina State University to provide a new dual degree program. Beginning in fall 2010, students will be able to obtain a J-D from Campbell Law School and a Master of Public Administration from N.C. State.

State Board of Education Member Kathy Taft Dies
(RALEIGH) -- The family reports that North Carolina Board of Education Member Kathy Taft has died at WakeMed hospital after suffering a brutal assault Saturday while she stayed at a friend's home in Raleigh. Earlier Tuesday, Raleigh police reported Taft had died and then retracted this announcement.

Gas Prices Inch Up
(CHARLOTTE) -- Brendan Byrnes with AAA Carolinas said the price for a gallon of unleaded regular has gone up about five-cents a week for the past two weeks. Byrnes said one reason the price at the pump has gone up is due to the increase in crude oil prices.

(RALEIGH) -- A conservative research groups is countering claims that the Clean Smokestacks Act is making a difference and also says it is costing more than originally estimated. Roy Cordato with the John Locke Foundation said they looked at the costs for utilities to modify coal burning plants.

GM To Reinstate Some NC Dealers
(RALEIGH) -- A new General Motors recovery plan means some dealerships in North Carolina slated for closure could stay open. The North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association reports that 20 to 25 dealers in the state will be offered their GM franchise back.

(CHARLOTTE) -- The Cato Corporation reported February sales of $80 million, an increase of 7% over sales of $74.7 million for the same period last year. Same-store sales for the month increased 3% over the prior year.

U.S. Farm Equipment Exports Down 23% In 2009
(MILWAUKEE, WI.) -- U.S. exports of agricultural-related machinery totaled nearly $8 billion in 2009, a 23% percent drop compared to the previous year, with the largest declines in business to Europe and South America. This is according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
